How I got started in sewing is sort of interesting.  My mother was a very talented and resourceful person. When she passed I seemed to get a lot of her qualities. I never thought that I would have the patients or the time to do the things I have done.  I've tried everything from sewing to making cakes.  The cake thing didn't work so I stuck with sewing.

When I was younger my mother made a lot of my clothes.  I was the only girl out of six kids.  I always thought that it was sort of dorky.  I realized when I got older that those things were very special.

When I married my husband we got stationed in Germany and I didn’t have a job so I learned from a friend how to cross-stitch.  I really have enjoyed this over the years.  I have made so many things for other people as gifts.  When we got back to the states I told my husband that I would really like to have a sewing machine to do mending with. 

 One year I made tiny stockings for my in-laws and my dad and step mom to hang on their Christmas tree.  They had all of the grandchildren’s names and date of birth with a small design in the middle.  I showed them to a friend and she suggested that I get started in making other things.  She had a project for me.  She suggested I start making pillows with designs on them.  I have made hundreds of them and have sold them at Christmas craft shows.  They are great for that special someone or just to have them as a décor for your own home.
